Default Taking off the freedom hardtop...how long?

Could someone tell me how complicated it is to take off the 3 piece hardtop and how long it takes? Thanks.

My best time is 15 minutes to do the top and all 4 doors by myself. I built a top hoist which helps a lot.

I'm a newbie to the forum, but I've had my JK for a while. If your soft top is already installed inside the hardtop, get yourself a long extension and a torx bit to fit, 45 or 50 I believe, for a ratchet, man that was months ago. 10 minutes tops. Without the extension, good luck.

Its a T-40 bit. And yeah an extension is needed to get at some of the bolts for the first time if the soft top is in there. My 1/4" drive impact comes in very handy sometimes. I bought the thumb screws before I even had our jeep for when I put the hardtop back on... but I might not even use them now. The impact gun was so damn quick And I'd still have to get out the T-40 for the 2 roll bar bolts...

It is pretty straight-forward to pull the top pieces, but you'll need a few tools (notably, a ratchet and Torx bits) and you'll want an assistant for at least the rear section. It should take less than 10 minutes for the top only. If you're also pulling the doors, figure about 20 minutes total (unless he/she stays and helps--then subtract a couple minutes).

Once you've pulled the doors for the first time, consider leaving out the door hinge nuts to speed this up the next time. Also, if you're installing a mirror or two, add a couple minutes.

I purchased a set of thumbscrews to replace the back Torx screws. This saves time and it means I only have to carry one Torx bit around with me. I only need to pull out my Torx driver for two bolts, the rest are done by end.

I found my thumbscrews on eBay.
