Im running mobil 1. what are your change intervals and what do you do about the dash info telling you to change your oil?

It's in the owners manual. Turn key but don't start. Push down on gas pedal 3 times within 10 seconds. Turn off key. This should clear the warning indicator. Seems a pretty common change interval on the 2012 is 5000 miles. That's what I have been doing. I switched to penzoil ultra synthetic at 10,000 miles.

Running Nulon full synthetic 5w-30 and seems to be less engine drag as the JK shifts up when driving at constant local road speed. Easier cold starts as synthetic maintains low viscosity at low temps better. Only disadvantage is cost.

thanks. I still need to locate my owners manual after the (forced) move.
I run mobil 1 in my XJ and sent a sample to blackstone after 10k. They said I could run it to 15k, and thats a dirtier engine, so I was going to run the JK atleast to 10k

Did first oil change at 500 miles, used reg. pennsoilk. Will go with syn. pennsoil at 2,000 miles. Not many oils have the crysler ms 6395 rateing.

The owners manual for the 2012 says to not exceed 8000 miles between oil changes. I choose to not push those limits because of the warranty. Clearly exceeding that by going to 10,000 would at least put warranty coverage of the engine in jeopardy. I don't think Chrysler would care what blackstone labs said about the cleanliness of the oil at 10k.

I'm of the same mindset. I've always been a fan of Mobil1, but given the whole Pentastar tick (which I believe that I've developed at 2700 miles) I've decided to go with a synthetic that's actually MS-6395 "certified" -- which leaves out Mobil1. I don't need an argument if/when the head gets replaced.

So having said that, the local Wally World has a plentiful supply of Pennzoil Ultra and Pennzoil Platinum as well as Quaker State Ultimate Durability. All meet MS-6395. The Quaker State seems to be the cheapest at 20 bucks for 5 quarts.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the Quaker State Ultimate? I figure that since both Pennzoil and Quaker State are now part of the Shell collective, they can't be THAT different, can they?

What is this MS-6395 you speak of? And what if you change you own oil (easy since there are no factory lube points to hit), how do you show that for the warranty? i will still change the filter every 3k
