Default Synthetic Oil questions

I have never used synthetic oil and I'm thinking of it but have some questions.

Is it ok to start running Mobil 1 at 1,500 miles or should I wait longer?

Whats your opinion of running Mobil 1 5w-20 and not changing oil till every 5000 miles.

I was advised to wait until 3K miles to change to synthetic. The engine needs to break in with the dino juice (or so I was told). I changed to AMSOIL at 3K, and will be changing my oil every 7500 miles (as recommended by AMSOIL), unless I see something funny. I check my oil once a week.

Some people will tell you to change it every 3K, no matter what - I keep an eye on it, and will see how it works out.

I changed to Royal Purple at 1000 miles, Mobil One is a good synthetic, as for milage; the Corvette and others roll off the assembly line with filled with Mobil One from day one.

Okay I think i will leave the factory oil in till 2000 miles and switch to Mobil 1 then, whats your all thoughts on this?

I'm guessing the synthetic leak stories are just old rumors because I have heard people have 200,000 miles with nothing but synthetic with never a leak.

I think you'll be fine changing to synth, and going with the longer intervals (heck there is a 6K mile schedule from the factory for the regular dino oil). As for the leak issues, it is most associated with people changing to synth on high mileage engines that are a little loosened up, and the synth finds its way out more easily.

I switched to synthetic at 600miles and havn't had any problems, doesn't even use any oil. You'll be ok. And there is a factory service interval of 6000miles, so you should be more than ok going 5000 on synthetic. From what I've been told, these motors are very easy on oil, so extended oil change intervals are no problem on them.

The dealer can presell oil changes for $25 each for up to 3 years or 12 changes. These are thru Chrysler to get the good price. I dont know about you but I am done changing oil on the Jeep and Dodge for the next 3 years.

Synthetic is nice but if you want the crud out you have to drop it I never had the guts when using synthetic to go past 5k miles. So it never saved me any money.

Just my opinion

I have used Royal Purple in my past 3 vehicles, great stuff. I saw an increase of 3 mph in my V8 explorer (and it had over 100k when I started)
I use the 6k interval in my Jeep, 25k on it so far
