I have been using Amsoil in my Cars, trucks and Motorcycles since 1982. I like the extended drain intervals, cooler running, the ability to withstand higher temps when things get tough, quieter running gearboxes, better shifting, slightly more power and gas mileage. And no I do not sell the stuff.

I know you guys(girls) are talking about full synthetic, but can someone tell me some things about the blends?
when they say synthetic blends, are they a mix of standard oil and synthetic?
What ratio do you call a blend? 50/50???????

My synthetic oil story for what its worth. When I worked for a Ford dealer I bought a brand new 1994 Ranger Super Cab XLT 4X4 with a 4.0 litre motor. I changed the oil with synthetic when it had 2 miles on it before I even left the shop. I continued to use synthetic oil, changing it every 3000 miles. I put a 3'' inch body lift and 5" inch suspension with 35" inch tires plus it had a CAI, Borla headers and a custom 3" inch exhaust with a 50 series Flowmaster.
I drove that truck hard and constantly revved it to redline. Funny thing was, after 100,000 miles it actually seemed to have even more power. I ended up putting 180,000 miles on it before I traded it in 2002 and it never burned or leaked a drop of oil. Pretty much came to the conclusion that it was the oil that made that motor run so strong for so long.

Are you guys all running full syn 5w20? Or did anyone change out to 5w30? I'm having a heck of a time finding 5w20 anywhere..finally found 2 qts some place, but that's it...considering going to 5w30 just so I can find oil when I need it...otherwise I guess i'll just order a case or two and keep it in stock at my house.

Regardless of the label, most Synthetics are NOT 100% Synthetic.
Amsoil, Mogul, and one other I can't remember are the only 100% synthetic products on the market. Even Mobil One has a percentage of non-synthetic components.
Does it make a difference? Not really. Just remember that the non-synthetic components are likely to wear out before the synthetic components. (wear being either heat or physical breakdown)
If you are going to change your oil as the manufacturer says, use anything. If you are looking for longer life and less waste, do the research and use what you find is best.
For the record, I'm an Amsoil guy and have been for over 20 years. My 12 year old pickup has had 14 oil changes in its life and runs as good today as the day I took it home with 3 miles on the clock.
