Lightbulb Synthetic Lubricants VS dino

And how often do you go about oil changes?

1. Every 3k
2. Every 6K
3. More than 10K

Still doing the regular for the motor, going to switch ti synth for my diffs soon. May consider the synth for the motor once my free oil changes are done with the dealer.

Change oil (dino) and filter (Purolator) every 3000 miles. Diffs have been changed to Mobil 1. Transmission will be going to Royal Purple as soon as the weather is warm enough to work outside.

Motor oil can visibly appear ticky-boo when it's loaded with acids from high mileage or excessive change intervals.
We're not dealing with engines from the 60's and 70's that loaded up with visible carbons and unburned fuel prior to fuel injection and emission reducing components.
I'll stick with basic recommended motor oil and change intervals.

Your standard Dinosaur juice with 3000mile intervals. They made the jeep... I'll do what they want me to

I haven't changed my oil yet but am going to soon I think. I just reached over a thousand miles but planning on a long road trip (from Washington state to Georgia) that will put quite a few miles on the Jeep. I will probably use synthetic when I can.

All past vehicles I used full syn mobil one and a good filter.

I voted indifferent here because I'm letting the dealership do the oil in my JK. I want to be able to utilize the lifetime warranty if I have to without trying to prove what I did or didn't do maintenance wise. If they mess up something as simple as an oil change...they are going to pay for the repairs. I just had the first change done and the bill was nearly exactly what it costs me to do it if I buy mobil1 and a K&N filter...plus they do a 16 point inspection, check tire pressure, and washed it for me!

Oh and I'm shooting for every 3k miles even though the manual says 6, I'll just have extra clean oil...or something.

Doesn't manual say 6000?

I feel like that is long on regular oil but I'm with you on the logic. They made it, shouldn't I do what they say?

The manual says 6000, unless you meet ANY one of these requirements:
  • Day or night temperatures Below 32*F
  • Stop and go driving
  • Excessive engine idling
  • Driving in dusty conditions
  • Short trips of less than 10 miles
  • More than 50% of your driving is at sustained high speeds during hot weather above 90*
  • Trailer towing
  • Commercial Service
  • Off-road or desert driving

To me, it seems like if you turn on your jeep, you'll need an oil change every 3000 (OR 3 months... according to their schedule)
