Default Stuck heating/ cooling vent - how to fix?

It finally decided to get cool here in Colorado and the last few mornings when I went out to turn on my defroster it won't let me flip from feet to feet/defrost to (only) defrost. If I leave the heat on for a bit it will warm up and eventually flop open the door inside and work, but not right away. It also does this from feet to feet / dash to (only) dash.. it won't flip all the way to dash. Has anyone come across this? If so, any solutions on how to fix?

try turning the fan off before changing the selection. I noticed if i have the fan blowing even at the lowest setting, it sometimes sticks a lil

If you pull the glove box out, you can see and move by hand the mechanism that that directs air. Your cable is probably broken. Look at the black sheath over the cable, if it's broken it won't work right. It's only about $6 to get a new one. Good luck

1. Open glove box.
2. Squeeze in sides.
3. Pull out glove box.
