Basically I laid out the mesh, took a piece of tape about 1"x1" at each spot I planned to place a grommet. I measured from the edges, and made the spots. Once I had the main spots planned out, I tapped in the grommets.
I put the top up and used the ball bungees to strap down nicely, then planned out for the rest of my spots to keep flapping to a minimum.
In the 100'+ heat this Texas summer it blocked the sun, still allowed light and held up to rain for months so far. Extremely sturdy as well. My 70lb dog hopped up there several times on my roof.

14 or 15 is the lowest stength springs. You'll definately get an 1-1.5" if you swap to 18 or 19 springs.
Swapping up will also make you not rock around so much when going over rocks, ditches, and curbs. And you won't sag when you add accessories.

I made a bikini top for my JKU for under $40 that's as good as the $100 ones. Plus just today I removed my Chrome JEEP emblem on the grill and removed the stickers from the sides. I learned how to chill drinks and put large drinks in the front holders.
