Stock Jack removal?

Stock Jack removal?
what is wrong with me? I can't get the thing out of this home. The jack got soaked the other day and I wanted to take it out to clean out the compartment, and of course the manual doesnt tell me anything!
any help?

The jack is extended slightly in the storage compartment to hold it firmly in place. You should be able to give it a few turns to the left (I think) to "lower" it and release it.

All you have to do is retract the Jack by twisting the knob. It is sooooo easy and the nice part is that when you reinstall it you can tighten it enough so it never rattles, ever.

I had this little dilemma briefly with my TJ, fortunately that experience served me well when I went to take out the JK jack. The manual should state it explicitly though to prevent frustration.

Ya no kidding!
as I was fighting with it in front of my house, all I could think about was what if this was on the side of the highway? I'd be fuming!
