Default Stock Headlight Question

I want to get the brightest bulb possible, but don't want to spend the money for HID's... anyone have a good headlight and fog light bulb that they like?

You will want to go with an aftermarket headlight assembly to see much improvement. Bulbs alone will give a minimal gain

X2. I went for aftermarket H13 bulbs but did not see a difference until I went with the IPF kit. The stock buckets are horrible.

The stock loom, buckets, and lenses are absolutely craptacular. You will not be able to find a bulb upgrade that will give you any real performance improvement in them.

Your best bet is to switch over to Hella, Cibie, or IPF H4 bulbs and buckets. This is the best value-for-dollar upgrade to lighting that you can possibly do to a JK....well unless someone has suddenly started offering a 50" LED bar and mount for $200.

Sylvania SilverStars replacement bulbs are much better than stock and you don't have to change out harnesses or other light parts.

I'm sure all those other suggestions are much better than Silverstars in a stock housing but cost more $$$ to do...

If you swap out the standard wiring from the relays for a heavier guage you will see some improvement as you will get less voltage drop along the lines.
Also swap the standard bulbs out for the highest possible wattage globes you can fit 90/100watt bulbs. This is about as far as you can go without changing the reflectors and lenses or entire light housing assemblies.
Some times it is just not possible to improve such a craptacular lighting arrangment.
Other than that you could look at more lights.

I did the Silverstar swapout myself. Not the best headlight bulb on the market, but much improved over stock for relatively little $.

You can do a direct swap with Phillips Xtreme +80's. I'm very satisfied with them. The bulbs that come stock are standard Phillip's. I wouldn't recommend Silverstars.
