Default Still Normal (oil Burning)??

I have 9715 miles on my 2dr 08 X and I have done 2 oil changes (one of them at the dealership since its almost the same price as the oil itself). I checked my oil today and I'm just below the safe region on the stick. When I checked about a week after my last oil change(around 5k miles) I was about half way up the safe region (maybe a little less). Both of these checks were in my garage so there shouldn't be too much error. So basically my oil went down around half an inch on the stick.I don't know how much this is qt. wise. I know it's normal to burn some oil when the engine is new but at this point is it normal to be loosing this much oil. I haven't noticed any leaks or anything but ill check when I change the oil this weekend. I'm guessing that if I take it to the dealership they will just say it is normal.
what do you think

Default Oil burning

My 07 has 19,000 now and it has always burned 1 quart of oil over 3,000 miles. Chrysler says it is well within specs, so thats good enough for me. I just buy one extra quart when I do the oil change. Just check your oil every month and keep it topped off, your baby will be fine.

12000 Miles - not using any so far. Change it myself every 3000 miles. Going to 10W30 would probably decrease oil usage. I'm getting ready to switch to 10W30 for the summer anyway. The head jeep mechanic at my local dealership says no problem on the switch...Chrysler only recommends 5W20 for mileage purposes anyway, he says. He drives a Wrangler himself.

I'm at 12k too and burn no oil. I do the 3000 mile changes myself and am using 5W20 Pennzoil.

ALL engines burn minute amounts of oil. They cannot get around it. I think yours is burning too much, though. I'd take it in.

That doesn't sound right at all. Even the old beat to death 304 in my old CJ-5 didn't LEAK that much oil. While your usage doesn't seem excessive for an engine with 150,000 miles on it, it seems high to me for a new modern vehicle IMHO.

Yea I agree. That seems like quite a bit of oil usage. Sure there are no leaks anywhere? If not I'd be at another dealer asking why it's burning so much oil.

According the Chrysler an more than 1 Qt in 1000 miles, there is something wrong. RubyDoo used 1.5 Quarts about 10,000 miles, reminds me i should check her now.
