Default Squeeling/whine noise..stop when clutch in pressed

Help!!

My 6sp 2010 just started to whine/squeal softly, and when i put in the clutch it disappears!

Any ideas? I have about 6,000 miles on it no mods....yet.

It's probably the throw out bearing. Mine does the same thing. has around 19000 on it, and it's still the same sound so I'm not worried. When it changes I'll figure out what it is.

mine was doing this also and it was the throw out bearing, very common problem bring it do the dealership with the TSB for this issue and they should replace it under warranty no problem.

Throwout bearing...take it to the dealer ASAP...so they will change it under warranty but the clutch is under a shorter warranty than bumper to bumper as it is a wear item. I had to replace 2 Throw-out bearings!

Sorry for the hijack but would a rattling sound also be a throwout bearing issue?

Yes it does. And I defined "lightly" as pressing the clutch in maybe 1/8 of the way or less. The best way i can describe it is that it sounds like I have marbles in my transmission.....

Sounds good. Made a appointment for the dealership for tuesday... I know I had it in the dealership soon after I bought it for this same sound Maybe they'll fix it this time and hopefully it'll be covered under my warrenty (not likely).

Not that it matters because the fix is the same.

If it stops with Light clutch pedal pressure, as in just barely pushed in, it may be the throw out bearing.

If it stops with heavy clutch pedal pressure, as in the clutch is disengaged, it is the pilot bushing/bearing. This is where the end of the transmission input shaft sits in the motor block. It could also be the input shaft bearing of the transmission but unlikely with only 6,000 miles on the jeep.
