Did this and the squeak/rattle then appeared behind the radio. Took all that out and it got worse, left it alone figuring I could live with the noise and it went away, go figure. Taking a vehicle off road and running it through areas a car wouldn't go and it's going to rattle. If you don't take your jeep off road you should have bought a Kia.

Just wanted to say thanks to mslc10 for the great write up. I just finished doing this fix to my Jeep after months of the chattering sound over bumps. I though it was something behind the dash after I installed the Uconnect.

Thanks again!! The noise was driving me f'n nuts!

Default squeaking dash noise....CURED!!!!!

Completed the procedure about a month ago wanted to make sure didn't hear the sound again. as soon as I removed the wiper grill and touched the black plastic box I heard the squeaking noise. Followed the step by step instructions which took me less than half hour. Great write up and recomend to all.

Darn ... was hoping this was the solution.

Moved the plastic piece around and it did really, really squeak bad. But, after padding it ... it didn't solve the squeak coming from center of the dash. I also tighted the windshield column bolts/screws ... they were loose as well.

But, two thumbs up for the write-up ... can see how it would be a major reason for the squeaks.

Now if someone has some other ideas ... would really appreicate the insight.
