funny.... i had a squeak in my TJ everytime i let my foot off the brake that the dealership couldnt figure out either
YOUR squeak is more than likely the clutch plate breaking in, in my opinion. i had the same thing, as did dozens of others. i haven't heard of anyone complaining of this problem after 7k miles. mine disappeared somewhere between 4-6k.

it seems that the people responding to this thread are bringing up at least 2 different issues, with possibly a third. they're just giving them different names.

if it's a squeak/squeal that happens during acceleration at 1500-2500rpm, that's more than likely a CAI thing. if it's a "chirp" or "squeak" that happens while shifting with the manual transmission, it's either throw-out bearing or clutch plate break-in - the latter problem disappears after a while and there's a TSB for the former. if there is in fact a 3rd problem being talked about here, then it would be new to this forum.

Have you checked for rats that may be hanging out on your clutch linkage? Too many people run over trash in parking lots and never think about the garbage smell underneath your jeep that can attract those pesky little varmits jkiddin too many Coronas tonight!

If the problem "goes" away on its own.. people wouldn't be talking about it. The TSB for the throwout bearing can be identified by taking your foot of the clutch WHILE NOT MOVING. The Chirp or Squeak issue happens at pretty much any RPM while shifiting or while coasting, just hit the gas, the torque of the vehicle reproduces this sound...it doesn't just happen "while shifting"... I still think its a bracket or engine/tranny mount...I may eat my words on that once this mysterious TSB comes out God knows when..

got my jeep back from the dealer after 4 days, they "fixed" my squeek with the TSB for the throw out bearing, i have heard from some that this is only a temporary fix and some have had the problem again even after the so called "fix"

well....for now there is no squeek and i am happy... just have to wait to see if it comes back

I have the same annoying problem as Gio. It is NOT the throw out bearing TSB! I can get the squeak to repeat every time. Best heard when shifting at 15-2500. Any higher and the engine noise drowns it out. Originally I thought it only happened when shifting, but recently discovered that I can come off the gas and when I get back on it the squeal still happens. Probably first had it from about 4500 miles. At 8000 now and I think it is getting worse. At this point it is so annoying, that I am praying for the day it breaks and I am stuck on teh side of the road just so I can get rid of that noise. My Dads 18 wheeler is quieter when shifting then this thing! If anyone has a fix, email me!
