its not the CAI, i do not have one and it definetely has made the sound since leaving the dealership first time, might not be in the tranny at all, but when my foot comes off the clutch there is a squeak
funny.... i had a squeak in my TJ everytime i let my foot off the brake that the dealership couldnt figure out either

After my dealer claimed to "not hear" the sqeak, I asked the Service Manager to take a ride with me in two of the 6 speeds on his lot.
They squeaked.
It is not a CAI issue, it is either a tranny mount or clutch issue. Jeep knows about it (enough of of have complained, and need to keep doing so), and I keep reading a TSB is coming....
I am almost certain that the dealers know what the issue is, but they get very defensive when you start telling them to pull the clutch. Hopefully we will see this TSB soon.

Welcome to the world of "the squeak/chirp". I had the flywheel replaced and the squeak came back. Now the dealership says they don't hear anything, which is bull. I monitor this forum weekly to see if the TSB is out yet.

If you find the problem I would be glad to hear what fix there is for it

guys, ALL of you - try doing another forum search. i'm willing to bet all of you have cold air intakes (CAI). it's just a feature of these wonderful devices. it seems that most people have this issue with the CAI whistling/squealing and that the general consensus is to "learn to love it".
in the year or so that i've been reading this forum (including before i joined), the ONLY thing i've read that specifically causes a squeal in that range of rpm's is a CAI. after weighing the goods and the bads, most people just grin and bear it.

I noticed this same problem from about the second week I owned my JK.
I have the 6-speed and the first thing that came to mind is the TSB about the throw out bearing. I did a little testing and it only happens under load (can't seem to replicate while in neutral).
The funny thing is, the car I traded in for the Jeep did the EXACT same thing... and by exact, I mean the exact same sound and conditions. I traded in a 2000 Toyota Echo (automatic) that made that same "squeal" or "whistle" type sound. I put over 80k miles on it with the sound and nothing ever happend. I'm beginning to think it is normal and have learned to ignore it.
I guess I will see... if something major breaks down the road I have my warranty to fall back on. The jeep is staying box stock and not going off-road until I pay it off, so there should be no excuse for them not to honor the warranty (I hope).
