Took about an hour to install all four shocks..real easy.

I discovered the rubi red shocks to be about a maybe the most 1/4 taller and alot firmer. The stock x shocks we very weak. You are able to push together with your arms.. The rubi shocks needed your body wieght.

Huge huge difference in ride. Much better feel, handling, and bump feel. No more bounce alot more controlled. I highly recommend.
OK, so in YOUR OPINION, would it be worth $100 to buy the Rubi shocks/springs and install them when I do the TF BB?

If you are performance minded, off and on road gas is usually better, but "comfort" may suffer. This is true with all vehicles...including car bangers.

$100 isn't worth it. You could get a good set of aftermarket shocks for a little more. But, if you are set on Rubi shocks then just be patient and you'll see them for sale cheap as soon as a Rubi owner upgrades the stock suspension.

I've tried 3 sets of "aftermarket" shocks on my Rubi and found the stockers are sufficient....again if you are looking for pure comfort, the "aftermarket" options may be viable....for performance the Rubi set up is legit...

I tried Full Traction Monos, Hydros and Pro Comp ES9000s.....ended up returning all of 'em and going back to the Rubi stockers....

I guess I didn't phrase my response the way I intended. I'm not saying that the Stock Rubi stuff is junk. What I am trying to say is that it would be silly to pay $100 when I have seen them here for far less many many times.

Heck, I have a set of the shocks with springs and all the rest of the rubi suspension parts sitting in my garage right now. Just need to put them on. The JK'r that sold me his Rubicon wheels and tires offered them to me with only 1200 miles on them. They are practically brand new.

Just in the past two months I'll bet I have seen 4-5 sets go up for sale here, plus a couple on Craigslist, and I haven't even looked at Ebay.

Stone,
That's great. Maybe now you can help me out. I must be slow... I can't get the upper shock mount pin out of the shock. Dish soap and a big hammer? How did you remove the pin and get it thru the Rubi shock?

Thanks,

I don't know why everyone thinks that. They're not longer:

Looks like that will answer the shock length question, have any pics of the springs?
(Thanks BTW)

Sorry to dig up this old thread again, but I didnt want to start a new one.

So, I am back thinking about putting the Rubi springs/shocks on my X when I put the TF BB on. I understand they are not any longer than what I have, but are they any better? If so, what makes them better? Are they $100 better?
My X is stock, the Rubi they came off of was purchased with the tow package, so I guess this means the springs (rear) are heavy duty?

I called 3 differant dealers, talked to both parts and service, they all said they are better but could not tell me why.
Anyone else with an X unlimmited that has swapped for Rubi stuff, please chime in.
Thanks,
Joe
