Default Spare FOB (Remote Entry)

I got a brand new Spare FOB remote entry. I have the original pair of remote entry and was trying to program FOB remote entry and I was having a hard time. I am pretty sure I was following the manual. Did anyone here had the same issue? If you did, how were you able to actually program it? I called the dealer and they want to charge 45 bucks, which I don't really want to pay.

My understanding is that if you have the original pair, you don't have to go to a dealer to do this.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

You have to program them in pairs and it will only allow you to have two at a time from my understanding. So your third one would technicaly be useless (for now). And no you cant bring a single one into a pair if you loose one. (so if you loose one you have to by two to replace it).

All that said I am only 95% sure. There may be some secret scooby trick out there to do something different.

You don't have to program in pairs. I programmed a spare when I had my KJ.

I was able to program the key. I can start the car with the key, but the remote entry program is the on that I am having a problem. Thanks for the reply though.

Yes, I did and I put a new battery. And Yes, this is the instruction that I followed and it worked with the original pair, but not for the new one.

I might just have to bring it to the dealer and see what the deal is..

I assume you verified that they are the same part #. Where did you get the spare key/fob?
