Default Spray lube

The dealer used some spray to lube the zipper. It discolored the top and they replaced it. The service writer guessed it was WD40 but no one knows for sure. I use the Mopar lube on the zipper, leave the cross bar out until the window is almost completely zipped. I also unzip the passenger side rear window halfway and zip it back up after the back window is zipped.

For waxing zippers, chapstick works just fine.

My 2011 came with zipper pulls attached to the zippers. They're about 2 inches in length and made from nylon cord with a plastic (or nylon) tab on the end. Makes zipping up or down real easy. Won't scratch the windows.

My 2009 also has the string tabs/pulls on the zipper ends.

My top was very easy to zip in the beginning and got progressively worse. Now the rear window is a bear to get started without crossing. My top is only on for summers, the jk is garaged, and the to looks new, but it still has issues.

Can anyone confirm that wd40 and or silicone do not discolor the top?

As I was reading this thread I was thinking "I wonder if leaving the left sail unattached would make this easier". I had struggled with mine when I put the top on for it's first time this spring and attributed the difficult to 'less than optimal temperatures' (was overcast and 75F - warm but still not the same is a nice sunny day).

I'll be using this tactic in the future. Jobber's Free Sail technique I'll call it!

Had the exact same issue. Bought a used soft top for a great deal and found the zipper was stuck all together and wouldn't allow the rear window to come out. Brought it to my dealer and they used the mopar lubricating fluid and with some muscle it lined up and unzipped. I've made a point of lining it with the lube each time I take it out and put it back on and it's been getting easier each time. Comes on and off fairly easily now.

This stuff works great. About $4 at a fabric store or online. Back window easy now.
