Default Soft Top Care

I recently purchased a 2008 Sahara and love it. But as a new owner, I was wondering if anyone can give me advice on caring for the soft top. I see that Bestop and MOPAR make special cleaners/protectants for the tops. Are these products "special" or does regular soap and water with some armorall protectant spray work just as well for half the price.

I use the Bestop cleaner and protectant about every 3 washes or so and find they keep the top from fading and mud 'seems' to come off easier.

I use 303 Protectant. It has UV protection in it to reduce fading. They also have a cleaner, but I don't use that.

Good information to know. Do you guys do anything different in the winter months to help with road salt? Not sure if everyone else has this issue as I do living in Pittsburgh, PA.

Cleaning with regular car wash soap works for me. Simple Green and a medium brush is perfect for mud or other 'stains.' Road salt won't be a bother to the soft top but I do run mine through a brushless car wash often in the winter.

The top on my TJ lasted 10 years before it needed replacing and that was just because the zippers were failing. These new tops are made out of even better material.

What do you guys do to keep the zippers working properly?

I'm a huge fan of the mopar top cleaner. Not necessarily every time, but when you get dust/dirt into the material it seems to work the best for getting that out along with bringing back the shine.

303 is key to keeping a soft top looking proper.
