Default Slamming Doors Shut

Hi

Anyone else have to slam their doors shut to properly close them fully...

Yup, only if all others are close...I think it has to do with the air pressure or something. Used to do the same with my old Jeep. Only when the hard top was on though. Not with the Soft.

when my hardtop is on then yes, when my softop is on then no... the issue is how air tight the cabin is... when the hardtop is on it seals pretty well and even though there is a vent in the tailgate, if you don't slam them hard enough, it creates positive pressure in the jeep and tries to keep the doors from closing all the way. If the soft top is on, then there are plenty of places for air to find its way out of the jeep so they close a lot easier. The last thing is when the windows are open or the top is off/down... the doors shut super easy then. thats my two pennies

I have to do this for both hard- and soft-tops (only if the other door & tailgate are shut already). I had to explain how the air pressure thing worked, because my wife would end up slamming the door even when I had my door open.

It's air pressure as a result of the doors being "sealed" to disallow water from entering when partially submerged and such. It doesn't help that the doors are so light... (not that I'm complaining).

I found it all in the follow thru. you can't just shove it and it close. You have to keep movement and pressure on the handle until it closes. Its fairly easy if you just keep your hand on it.

I thought it was just me...glad to see it's not and is just par for the course. I had a hardtop when I bought my first Wrangler in '93 and don't remember the doors being so hard to close.

Same here, once I started closing the door this way no more problems, and I don't have to slam it.

Yeah, I have to shut mine like that too.
When I have a passenger with me I make sure I leave my door open until they shut their door first then I shut my door. I feel like an ass having to tell everone to shut their door again.

if we removed one or more of the drain plugs in the floor, would that allow the air to escape and make the door issue easier?
