Blacklock,

In my mind the only real benefit of the Sahara is the Yes fabric on the seats. I bought a Silver JK X with the 23S package, 4:10 rear end, dual tops, sub and the power package. I picked up a set of Rubicon wheels and tires with 200 miles on them, a set of slush mats and never looked back. The black flares look awesome and somehow don't appear as fussy as the painted flares - no offense to Sahara owners. Not sure how this looks on other colors but I like the contrast of the silver and black. This is a killer rig and you can't go wrong either way you go. BTW - if you get an X get rid of the X sticker immediately.

Last but not least, nice avatar......

I picked the Sahara simply because I wanted the painted flares with the steel blue, and I wanted the 18" rims if not for those two items an "X" would have been great by me. Hate that "x" sticker thou.

Rubidon- My wife and I bought the same vehicle as you. I happen to like the painted fenders,
18" wheels and we got an auto- which seems fine so far.

Default Painted vs. Black Fender Flares on Sahara and Sway Disconnect

I tried to order my Jeep Green Sahara with
Black flares. Dealer said it could not be done.

The green flares have kind've grown on me
in a virtual sort of way since the Jeep's stuck
in BG.

I also tried to order the sway bar disonnect and
Tru-lock rear end options. Again I was thwarted.

Has any of this changed since Nov. 11 ?

I have a 2 door Sahara, black and think it looks great. On my TJ I always hated how the black plastic fenders faded so easily, one of the big reason I wanted the Sahara with the painted fenders.

My car has an auto trannie with 4.10 rear end and the 44 with the Trac-Lok. It was ordered by the dealer ship, so it can be done. I also have the 18" rims and love them too.

Thanks Wilkie,

I wondered about the black fenders fading.

The Tru-lok and Trac-lok are different terms/options.

Trac-lok is limited slip, I ordered that, along with the tow and 4.10.
I don't "truly" understand
the advantage of the Tru-lok feature, but I'd
appreciate a description of it from an serious
off-roader.

No offense to anyone with the black unpainted fenders...... I do think some of the colors looks better with the black fenders. I most have tried every product out there to try and keep my TJ's fender looking new nnd they kept on fading.

When I saw the black Sahara at the dealership...well I was hooked on the painted ones.
Just my 2 cents

Sorry missed the Tru lock reference. I do think that is only available on the Rubi's. It is a full locker. Ihad a Track-Lok on my TJ and was very happy with the places I could go.

The Tru-lock is a locking differential - as stated. It is however not limited to the Rubicon. A locking rear differential was and is listed as an option for the Sahara and X models (late availability).

Does anyone know the limitations and similarities of the brake-lock diff compared to the tru-lock?
