Default saftey keys

I just bought a 2009 JK and the dealer didn't tell me about the new saftey keys. Does anyone know of a way to bypass that program or have any ideas on how to make a key work w/out a safety chip.

Yes. Buy the correct keys with a chip and have the dealership cut and program them for your JK. That is the only way.

Why would you want to bypass it?

Certainly the Jeep came with an owner's manual, I would look there.

This is my JK and I am not a thief, I would like to bypass the chip only because this is going to be a toy and a driver.(and jeeps are very easy for people who don't give a s&!T, to steal) That chip is just one more thing that could go wrong and I don't want to be on the trail when it does. Thats the only reason I was asking!!!!!!! There was nothing in the manual that I saw and even the dealer I bought it from said there was nothing he or his machanics could tell me. Another reason for the bypass is that the dealer wants $85 for the keys and $50 to program the keys if I buy them off the net. That to me is alot of money for a key.

As long as you already have two coded keys you can program more with the jeep. That is in the manual. Remember you must have TWO coded keys in order to program more.

No dealer required. Just read the manual, all you need is two coded keys an uncoded key and your jeep.
