Default Rust in the area of front brake/suspension/wheel components on a new JK. OK?

I have a new 2011 Rubicon Unlimited which I've had a bit over a month and which probably sat on the dealer's lot for a few months or so (rainy winter/spring in the Pacific Northwest). Anyway, I recently removed the wheels to get them powder coated and noticed that there was rust on a variety of the suspension/braking/wheel components. Is this normal? Should the dealer correct this? Just curious, as I was surprised to find the rusted areas.

^^^This. It is just surface rust. If it bothers you, you can hit it with some rust paint to make it look pretty.

Yeah, they don't paint all the cast components like steering knuckles, steering boxes, drive shafts, etc as a layer of surface rust will build up & actually acts like a barrier; starts off bright orange & looks real ugly but will eventually turn dark brown to almost black. Spray the affected components with a black rattle can if you want to make them blend in with the frame & other components such as axles that are painted black at the factory.

Thanks for the info, guys. If there's nothing to be concerned about... I won't be.

Can it really help much just spraying paint or sealant on top of the rust?

Wouldn't the rust need to be all cleaned off to make much of a difference in spraying paint on it?
