Rust!?!?
I've had my Sahara for 6 months, 12,000 miles, and 2 cross country trips now, and no issues, but I found some startling rust underneath today when I was checking things out after offroading a bit.
The drive train, where the wheels attach to the axles, and various other places have a significant amount of rust! This is my first new vehicle so I have no idea how fast to expect this process to go. My 12 year old cherokee looked close to what my JK already is underneath!
Any advice or input? Thanks!

I understand it's normal ( I say that cuz I'm not 100% sure)
The metal (steel compound) is designed/made so that that thin layer of "rust" you see soon becomes its own sealant. I almost freaked when I noticed it first, but what I was told (see above) made good sense.

I had my rustproofed befor I'd even take it off the lot, so i haven't looked underneath, but i've noticed discoloring (rust?) around the bolt holes of the windshield. I'm little concerned about that. I've had my Sahara about a year and a half.

The steel in the drivetrain components is designed to create an outer of preventative rust. Just don't sand it unless you're going to rustproof it. You'll be fine. Rust in the body panels is a different story though.

Thanks for alleviating fears! you pay that much for something and I guess you get protective...
I've always been told rust proofing was a dealer scam, so didn't even think to ask...interested to see if it really makes a difference, may regret that non purchase in the future

Never had rust under a new vehicle before getting my new JK. Had rust on day one. Jeep was on a lot in sunny SoCal so I'm guessing the parts were rusted when assembled.
I'll go with the guy who " seals in the jeepy goodness"
