Rust 09 JK
I noticed I have some rust developing on the brackets you remove to lower the windshield. Is this rust coming from the bolts that hold this piece in place or perhaps exposed edges from the part itself?
Either way should I try to remove it? what is the best way to eliminate the rust stains?
Thanks

I have the same thing happening on my 2010, just thought about removing the entire piece and bedlining it. Just haven't done it yet, but glad you started this, b/c I was going to ask the same thing.

Mine did the same thing and I had them fix it under warranty. They were able to remove the rust stains off the paint and then painted the bolts so they didn't rust again.

Agree with the warranty issue. I dont have warranty anymore - I have the same problem. I took the bolts out on mine, took a toothbrush with some polisher to the empty holes. Then waxed it. Painted the bolts black on the tips and reinstalled it. No isses so far. Now I wish the hinges were that easy...
My girls 2010 has the bolts rusting up. I painted her bolts black and it looks GREAT with the green paint. Oh... and a light paint polish will work on the running rust stains. I did that on all of my vehicles.

Yep, had currently have same problem with my '08. Doesn't show up so bad as the Jeep's black but I'm still going to pull them out & re-paint them with anti-rust paint when I get a chance.
