I noticed at around 1K miles that the power and throttle response was poor.
At around 10K miles it seemed like it was still poor.
Now at 18K miles, it is poor.
No "loosening up", no "breaking in", no "waking up"... I still love my Jeep, but I am still not able to convince myself that the power is improving while being passed by chevy metro's on hills. Other than that Jeep did a great job. They just missed the boat on the engine...

I've got 250 miles on it, and it's pretty slow. Worse, when you floor it there's no added response, just this irritating buzzing felt through the shifter. But it's VERY smooth at lower rpms!
Fuel economy is dismal. I've never seen anything so crappy: 11.75 mpg all city, with a very light driving style.

Mine felt like it woke up at about 5000 miles or so. But i never had any problems with the power it makes. Much better than the 258 in the YJ and i know it's faster than my friends TJ.
But mine is the 2door and i have heard the 4 door is underpowered but hell i am kinda the there is never to much power kinda guy so i would love to see a V8 or deisel in it in a couple years when we replace my wifes SUV with the 4door
