I am starting to do some mods on my Jeep and one that I am considering is diff covers front and rear. How strong are the Rubi covers strong enough that replacing them is a waste of money or is it worth it? Thank you for any opinions!

Your diff covers are the same as any JK, just stamped steel. Definitely worth an upgrade.

The diff covers are specific to the axle. Not necessarily to Rubicon. A D44 cover won't fit a D30.

True, but I was responding to his strength question.

The aftermarket diff covers, usually do not have the lip that the stock covers have. The lip on the stock covers are good at getting snagged on rocks and peeling away from the differential. Definitely worth upgrading.

Thank you for the input, now I just need to find the right ones. Also considering diff armor but I guess the one downside to that would be reduction in ground clearance.

I wouldnt sacrifice the clearance plus the diff housings themselves are pretty stout on their own. I would however look at LCA skids for the front and rear and C-Gussets for the front. The LCA brackets get chewed up pretty fast and its not hard to bend a C.

Thanks Rob. I have been looking at LCA skids and agree. What are you referring with the "C"?

I made my own but there are many different brands and a couple different types. Here is a write up on a popular brand:
