RPMs and upshifting
ok, bear with me as this may be the very definition of a dumb question but I'm curious:
On average, at what RPM do you upshift? (I'm talking about 2H on normal road conditions)
I have a stock X 2010 manual 6spd 2dr.
I've been driving stick for 20 years but always light sports-type vehicles, which I tend to push to higher RPMs a bit before shifting - this has just become second nature. I have read the manual and it does provide a matrix for shifting based on kms/hr - however I find that this would require shifting at pretty low RPMs. On the highway, I find that I need to be going at least 120 kms/hr to justify putting it in 6th gear (at which point the RPMs may hover around 2500).
Is there a 'sweet spot' for RPMs that my jeep likes to be shifted at? I read one post that this might be as low as 2300-2800 but I'm looking for some jeep jedi opinions here.
Thanks all,
'bitters

i have a 6 speed and 3.21 gears. (Until Thursday when i get 3.73's)
You are right that 6th gear is fairly ueless unless you are going 75mph. Around town, relaxing, I shift right at 2000-2200rpms and conserve gas. Freeway merging and passing, I can rev up to 4500-5000rpm to get some power. The 3.21 are the softest gears and you really have to sit back and wait when you floor it. Takes a long time for power to build. That issue was non existent when I tried 4.10 gears.
