Found this on the web...

Five tire rotation results in equally distributed use that will help maintain equivalent tread depths on all five tires throughout their life. When applied to many four-wheel drive and all-wheel drive vehicles, this is required to prevent driveline damage if a flat tire forces a new spare to be put into service with partially worn tires on the other three wheel positions.

I personally do not rotate the spare. I only want to buy 4 tires instead of 5 everytime. Even if you don't rotatet he spare, you still get good wear.

I rotate all 5. Cross from the back. Spare goes in right passenger side. Front passenger side goes to spare mount.

I do it around 5k miles.

Couldn't you rotate your spare in during your ownership of the 1st 5 tires... then just buy four tires on the next go around and keep one of the old used ones as a spare... at that point drop back to rotating 4

Why bother. This way I always have a new spare.

Depends on how long you keep it on there. I bet more than 5 years and you are asking for it if you try and use it for a replacement. Too much dry rot at that point.

Quick Reply: rotating in the spare? yes/no?
