Default Reservoir Coolant Level

My Coolant Bottle coolant level doesn't fluctuate anymore when the engine is hot or cold. What is causing this or do I need to Burp the coolant system.

Questions: Have you opened the cooling system; thermostat or hose replacement? Are you experiencing overheating? Properly filled cooling system with no Air probably is not going to cause a change in the Coolant reservoir.

I've been burping the cooling system. And always thought the reservoir coolant level varied.

If you're not having any cooling issues, and you're not noticing a decrease in coolant in the resi over time, then that sounds like perfect situation to me!

When the Engine is cold, check the Radiator, if it is not full then coolant is not being sucked back from the reservoir. Possible issues are a bad Radiator cap or the hose from the Rad to the reservoir has a leak. On mine a small hose clamp on each end of the hose solved the issue of coolant not returning to the radiator.

Yay, someone answered my question correctly. My question for you is, when your engine is cool does the upper radiator hose deflate. Mine does now. But Youtube videos say nothing about it or quote it's bad. I still see no change in my reservoir level. I'm going to try a new radiator cap.

Your upper hose collapsing would indicate the the system tried to suck coolant back from the reservoir but couldn't, has to be the cap or the hose to the reservoir.

I don't know if it is possible for the hose to the reservoir to fail such that it would only allow fluid out but not to return, but for the cost of a couple of feet of hose I would replace it while your at it.

Another thought, check the reservoir for sludge on the bottom. It could also stop the coolant from returning to the rad.

Changed the cap at 1pm, took picture and checked level at 4 pm. Level is dropping about 1/4" and you can tell it's sucking and holding vacuum. I'll be checking level again in the morning.
