Default Replacement Tie Rod End at Pitman Arm

I need a front Replacement Tie Rod End at the Pitman Arm of my Rubicon.

Anyone ever done one of these? Do I need special tools or anything before I endeavor to do this myself?

I was just going to get the part from my dealer.

Thanks.

Default Drag Link

I guess its not the Tie Rod, its the upper Drag Link joint that connects to the Pitman Arm that is making the noise... kind of a grinding / wrenching metal-on-metal sound when I turn the steering wheel while parked.

I'm pretty sure that ball-joint is toast, I've seen pictures of the broken inner plastic parts somewhere on the forum.

The OEM dealer part is $69 bucks, but they want $260 to install it.

So I'm going to just buy the part and bring it with me to superlift ORV this weekend... if it breaks at least I'll have a spare.

The Moog ES3624 Tie rod end was designed for Dodge Ram 3500's. It fits the JK OEM drag link to the pitman arm and also Rock Krawler tie rods. They are Greasable and heavy duty(no plastic interior parts like OEM) and sell for around $22. I just put it on, including the Currie Tie Rod. Both are pure grade A Beef.

Brother I won't steer you wrong!
It along with my Currie Tie Rod has eliminated my periodic death wobble and made my steering incredibly tight. Best $22 I spent my Jeep.
