Does the dealer need your jeep to program a new key. I only have one and need another.

Not sure about that. I believe that if you have one key, you can program another, yourself. Search around. I think it even tells how to do it, in this thread somewhere.

You need 2 keys to program any more. Not sure on the dealer requiring your jeep but I would assume yes.

I just got my extra keys programed today. I bought two keys off ebay. I was told it is normally $75 a key if you don't have the key, but the owner of the dealership lives in my neighborhood so we got both keys programmed for free. And my wife said they DID take my Jeep to program the keys. She didn't know what they did with it, but they did need it.
