Default removing powder coat

can i use a chemical paint stripper to remove powdercoat off of some rugged ridge aluminum rims that need to be recoated?

is sandblasting better?

looking for the cheapest option to prep properly for a satin black krylon coating

If it were my project I would avoid chemical strippers and sand blasting . Both are too aggressive for aluminum IMO. I'd start by blasting with walnut shells. If that was too light a touch then plastic beads would be the next step. Neither of these will leave pits in the aluminum.

Permatex gasket remover. Spread it on the surface, let it sit a good 15 minutes and then wipe off with paper towels/rags. Some areas require more than one application.

The part I was stripping was aluminum. No damage or ill effects.
