Question Rear headrests

Has anyone removed ther rear headrests? Can this be done? I looked at them briefly this morning and it looks like it either can't be done, or it will be a real PITA.

The ones on the backseat of the 2-door come out very easy. They've been off since I brought her home. I know the ones on the 4-door are different.

They all come off, even the front set, don't they? I took my rears off the 2dr and the front have the same feature, hold those bottom buttons and lift. Almost need three hands.

I want to replace the front ones as they suck and are harder than a rock

Mine is a 2 door but still...how much would that matter?

At the bottom of the headrest, just on top of the seat, there are buttons that release the tension on the two shafts. Keep pulling up on the headrests with those depressed. The rear pulled out easily. I moved the front until they were almost out just to see if that worked since some of the seat covers require removal and although I did not take those completely off, it appeared they would remove.

They popped right out on my 2 door.

I saw the headrests on a friend's Unlimited. They were different. There was no obvious easy removal. I cannot remember how it looked though.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I have a 4 door. I did not know they are different than the 2 door. Unfortunately they do not just pop out like the front ones. Hopefully someone has done this.
