$230??? That's crazy, I thought I was getting ripped off at $50

No scraping needed. Both diffs have a drain plug.

The stealership I went to pulled the same crap. Took my JKU in for the recall on the skid plate and also made the appointment for them to look for my water leak. Said they did not have time to look for a water leak but came back with the following: need new spark plugs, front and rear diff. fluids, transtercase fluid and throttle body cleaning. All this for over $800. All BS

I originally changed both of mine at 3000 and the back was jet black while the front was only slightly dark. I changed both again within the past two weeks when I changed my diff covers. Twenty-two thousand miles later on my original oil change and the front looked like it was new and the rear only slightly worse. I was surprised that the rear wasn't black like at 3K miles.

I was changing covers. Needed to replace fluids after breaking in gears and wanted to get a little protection. Oh yeah, and its RTV, I was drinking when I originally posted.

Hi all

25k or 30k is more inline for normal. I have seen jeeps with 200k and never had diff oil changed running fine, I wouldnt do that ,but these are rugged vehicles.

sythetic or petroleum based, 75w90w normal or 80w140w towing, and supplement if you have LSD diff...................................

Should synthetic fluid be run in the differentials?
