ohhh man! this is heaven!.... i am really missing that thunk! the tape is working just fine (saving $81 for the replacement latch for now)... let's see how long it will work

i think i put a little too much of tape because the door is a little harder to close... but is ok so the door latch is more padded and it will take longer for the door to make the tape flat enough to 'thunk!' again.

Going to try the tape for now and will wait till the next oil change. I only have 7000 miles and this is the only issue I have had. Thanks for the help!

Well, I wouldn't of believed that the electrical tape on the door striker would fix the noise I had.... BUT IT DID. I thought for sure it was in the area of the seat belt adjuster in the pillar. I read on here about the tape on the striker and gave it a shot today...all gone. I love this forum ....

is it possible to adjust the actual latch?... doesn't looks like, the screws go inside a space that is exactly for them to go there, i don't see room for 'adjustment' there

LOL!

This is exactly like our MK6 GTI issue.. clicking noise by your ear at seat belt area near B pillar..

spray the door latch with white litium grease... noise gone. makes no sense.
