hey guys, so I have been having this rattle and "clunking" issue, and I brought it in to the dealer and they applied that white grease stuff in there, and the "clunking" noise is gone but i still have that noise next to my ear. it just rattles over every bump or crack in the road. i tried the electrical tape, but i still get the rattle...am i doing something wrong? do i need to apply alot of electrical tape? i put about 2 round of it around the striker. any ideas?? getting really tired of this, and i really love my jk!!! thanks in advance!!!

Ther you go! 2 round the whole striker on all four doors and the sound will be gone. Don't know how long it will last as I did mine mid-summer and it is still good. Cheap fix and you don't have to sit and wait in the stealership lounge for an hour waiting for them to apply grease in mins

Not sure if it was in this thread or not, but someone mentioned putting duct tape on the hinges. You just have to rip the tape lengthwise to make it skinny enough to wrap around there. I forget who posted that, but they did say that the duct tape lasted longer than the electrical tape.

so use duct tape on the whole striker? or just place it on the side where the door actually connects with striker? i used it only on the one side closest to when you first get in one with negative results, maybe ill just try and wrap the whole thing!

My clunk is back after a few days from applying the spray. Does anybody think that if I took the striker off and used (plastic dip ,The rubber stuff thats on plier handles) would work better than tape ?

I did the duct tape as perscribed here, took a piece about 6"-7" long, tore it in half both length and width wise then wrapped it around the hinge (side closest to the outside). Took care of it immediately, while I wait for the dealer to lube the latches (thanks for posting the TBS). Worked like a charm! That THUNK was driving me nuts!

I noticed in the beggining of this thread that a few of you had the latches replaced. Is that the real solution or will the Krytox grease fix it?

Revised door latches installed for free by the dealer.

For reference:
revised latch pn 4589277AF and 4589277AG

Had dealer flash my PCM for a 28psi Tire Pressure monitor light also.

Props to Arrow Jeep in Abilene.
