Get a trailer harness from Quadratech, or one of the other venders. They are plug and play. No splicing required.

Amazon has them for $22 from Rugged Ridge with 5 star ratings across the board. They clip into the taillight and everyone seems to like them.

The Rugged Ridge and Mopar harnesses are identical. It took me about 30 minutes to install my Rugged Ridge hitch and wiring harness.

I bought mine from the jeep dealer for like $35.00 came with directions. Unscrew passenger taillight, plug it in to the only open plug, run it underneath the jeep and hook it to the hitch, the screw brake light cover back on, 10 minute job.

Rugged Ridge harness hands down. Stupid simple to install, mounts in factory holes, plus ground built in so you dont have to ground it.

So you physically remove the driver's side taillight as if you're going to change the bulb? I'm about to get one of these harnesses myself... was wondering how they connect.

I bought the RR hitch and wiring harness from 4WD hardware. The did have the RR stuff for 15% off. I don't know if they still have it but seems like I got both with shipping for less than $80. The harness is super simple, there are even factory holes and clips on the harness to hold everything in place all the way down to the hitch.

The only complaint I have and it may be true of the other JK hitches but there seems to be alot of play when you put the slider in. I've had several other receiver type hitches on my trucks and they didn't seem to have as much play. Oh well, a minor gripe anyways.
