I may be completely off, but if it were hydrolocked, it shouldn't even turn over. The started should be binding under the pressure of the locked engine. Thankfully, I don't have personal experience with this. If it is just a little water, I suppose it is possible for some water to exit via the exhaust valve. Any water coming out of the tailpipe when attempting to start it? If so, stop before more damage is done. Good luck!!

I doubt you hydro locked it driving through a puddle - unless you took off your inner front fender flares and exposed the engine compartment and have an open CAI intake - and then still probably not. If it isn't turning over, check your fuses and starter.

If you have, in fact hydro locked it, you can pull the spark plugs and turn the motor to expel the water, and hope you didn't break anything.

Back the the original thread though, I have a 2012 and fly through puddles all the time. I've also gone through some mud and water holes on the trail up to about 2 feet deep without any issues.

The loss of throttle response without the engine stalling is probably a side effect of one of the 'idiot' safety systems we have now. The 2012's are drive by wire, so the pedals just tell the computer what you want the Jeep to do. Then the computer decides if it will let you or not, given all the environment data it's collecting.

I have xrc fender flares. No liners. A CAI and i hit it pretty hard I think it did hydrolocked :(
But i am confused. Iv hit bigger puddles at the same speed on the hiway and nothing evr happened

What transmissions are you guys running on your 2012's? I had this same thing happen to me this past weekend. Went through the puddle just fine in the morning but later in the day I went back the other way and it stalled on me. Just bogged down and lost all power.

I will say before going through the puddle I had just taken it out of 4 low for the first time all day and things were acting kind of weird for the 2 minutes leading up to the puddle. I am thinking that it might have been all started from either the transfer case or more likely an electrical hiccup from my auto tranny???

Auto, here.

And I don't recall a recent transfer case shift when mine happened.

Auto here as well. I had not been in 4 lo yet, I had just entered the trail. I had shifted into 4 hi to be able to disco, about a half mile previous but I have a feeling that's not related.

Sorry but... no. It fully stalled and failed to start several times for about 5 minutes. Plus I was all the way through and on dry land when I was having the power issue. The puddle probably lasted 2 seconds at most, and when I reached the other side is when the jeep came to a stop due to no response in the throttle, then it bogged down and stalled.

Sorry for the multiple posts. What REALLY grinds my gears here is that this appears to be an inconsistent problem. Some of the posters sympathize and relate with similar issues, and others aren't quite getting the problem (probably because it seems so outlandish). There was the one video of the 'drown jk' that was posted in this thread, yet youtube is FULL of other jk's absolutely pounding other deep water crossings. WTF??
