It seems that way then you have a case, If you have had three attempts than you should no problem getting them to buy it back.

Can someone tell me the difference between the Better and Best?
Just speculation, mind you, but the difference between "better" and "best" may have something to do with Mobil 1's own marketing. If you go to Mobil's site and run through the "What's the right oil for my car?" checklist, they do actually distinguish between the regular Mobil 1 synthetic ("superior" protection) and the Mobil 1 Extended Performance ("ultimate" protection)?

Or maybe they just are shameless about their desire to separate the automotively-challenged people from their money?

Or maybe the service department is just stupid?

If you are so world class butthurt about this get a lawyer and make them buy it back. Go buy your RAV4 and be done with it.

I understand you may be pissed, just remember you are not the only one in your situation.

You are getting so petty about this I would be willing to guess you are one of the ones who wouldn't have been happy if they threw a whole brand new motor in it. Seriously man, sell it or get over it.

Just a guess or conjecture on my part

I guess I should have said more controled coolant flow.

I contemplated a RX7, 8 more than once. Yes the Rotary engines are a little troublesome. From what I've read the rotor vanes that seal off the combustion chamber as it rotates around are the main problem. Have you ever viewed how this engine works? It is an excellent overall design, low moving part count, fairly simple, just that one part, probably the most important, isn't the best.

My original question was asked about the Pentastar, if anybody knows of one that has attained 100k miles or more?

Speculating, I'm sure there's some vans out there over 100k.

So...I changed my 12JK's oil today with Mobil 1 at 2,000 miles (2nd oil change). I listened intently to the engine afterwards and it sounds smooth but kinda like a sewing machine. Is this the ticking sound? It isn't loud and sounds smooth from all around the engine.

Is the sound a tick, tap, or knock? I would never have given it a second thought if I hadn't read this thread. I thought this was a normal sound for an engine. My 1993 YJ's engine sounded like a sewing machine too.

No, you will know it when you hear it. It's very distinct.
