Those of you who do not own '12's need to go away. Find your own year and bitch and moan in those forums.

For those of us who do own 12's, there are people on here who really do have issues and need a resolution. I had suggested earlier that when if/when you do experience the problem, please file a complaint with the US Dept. of Transportation:

http://https://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov...nt/index.xhtml

Thank you to those of you who are having to deal with this and are keeping everyone informed of your experiences.

I have to agree with this. Just like the radios aa ab ac ad ak

I have to wonder as someone previously stated too why is the drivers side only. When I took mine in the Service Advisor heard the tick from the passenger side.. Of course the service manager heard no tick at all so I guess its all in my and the service writers heads. Wow cant believe they employ paranoid people who hear things that are not there.

Good advice. Usually when the transportation board gets tired of hearing about problems they do something. I'm just worried the something will be "mask the problem until the warranties are up".

I've been monitoring mine pretty closely. Nothing really strange, oil level looks good and oil is clean, however I get a weird exhaust note now about about 2500 to 3500 rpm that started recently, really hard to describe the sound besides RRRRRRRRRRT, but not the normal RRRRRRRRT an exhaust makes .

Also with all the rumors that they have thousands on back order it's tough to have warm fuzzy. Even if they say they have plenty. I'll be interested to see what heads are on the first 2013's. I was one of the avoid the first year guys.
I have spoken with my service advisor about the tick. He believes there will be a recall on them, too many issues not to be. My jeep is heavily modded and he said i was covered, no worries. So my pov on this is that when its recalled, it wii be fixed. Until then, in the words of my service advisor, wheel it like you stole it, We will fix any factory parts that break. That is what i intend to do.

well here we go i had been hearing it slightly and waiting for good time to take it in, just began to notice a pretty significant drop in fuel economy (i have 3100 miles on mine, way to soon to be loosing fuel mileage!) so i made time and brought it in to a different dealer then i had bought it from today, since i bought it at home in illinois but am stationed in nc. good news is i played it stupidish with they guys there and they said they heard it definately asked what they plan to do to fix it, he said typically they are putting new heads on right off the bat there, but they will call me, which is a good sign. and the only benefit to all this is that when i asked about how long a new head would take to come in if thats the case the guy told me they have a whole bunch in the shop waiting, which kind of makes me think he bs'd me abit about having "just a few come in" lol but we shall see where it goes from here, the service staff seemed helpful and understanding. i will keep you all posted.

Well, first off, Thank you for serving!

Second...Wow, 3100 may earn you the prize for earliest symptoms of the head problem. Make sure you find out if their stock is of the AB heads. Having said that, I have to agree that although a newer replacement exists, we don't know what or if Jeep did anything to fix the problem not just create a new part number. Although it is refreshing that you actually have a dealer that is going to go straight to the head and not to the lifters (or check the computer).

Thanks Wendy!
and yes it is refreshing, i was nervous based on stories i have read on here! but what bothers me is that they can honestly sit there and listen to obvious metal on metal tapping, (i'm no master mechanic but i know valve tick when i hear it lol!) and tell you its a computer problem and plug it in in hopes you'll go away, not gonna happen! i'm glad i went to the dealer i did they seem like real straight shooters, but i will let you all know! bad part is my hopes are kinda high for them now! lol

There are also others on this forum reading threads like these that can benefit from the advice to wait out a new model year. I think the discussion has been balanced for the most part.
