you still drivin it? if owners are forced to be without it that long chrysler should offer a buyback , they should anyway because there is no guarantee the new head wont do the same thing , i would be looki g for a new or low mile 2011

They do at times put parts on a national restriction but that does not mean the dealer cannot go ahead and place the order.
Chrysler fills orders just like a chow line. Whoever is next in it gets the part. Regardless if it is on restriction or not. Imagine them only ordering one head per week and say 5 customers a week needed replacement. People would go months before being able to have their JK/JKU repaired.
Call Jeep and escalate your concern as high up as you can get it and see if that changes things.

So they are telling you it will be almost 3 months before they can order your head? That is real professional on the part of Chrysler and the dealer and it sounds like someone is feeding you a mouth full of crap.

From my understanding the dealer places the order, but chrysler is only shipping the each dealer one a week. I called Jeep and said their parts expedite team is working to
get the parts there by next week. It comes in 2 parts the head and a head bolt kit, they told me the head should be there next week and will call me monday on the status of the head bolt kit.
its been there for 3 weeks now.

Its not right how they do that but what can i do. All i do is call the case manager twice a week to check the status the parts and the rental extension.-

On these forms my jeep is now on a restricted status with BOTH HEADS. I have already had the DRIVERS SIDE replaced and the dealership was curious as to why the drivers side is restricted NOW even after replacement. Chrysler said that is because alot of the replacement heads could of been defective that they ALREADY replaced on vehicles and possible design flaw issues! LOL I think it may be the manufactoring process or QC portion of the production of the heads.
I am very concerned that I have already had a drivers side head replaced and NOW the other side is restricted and the drivers side is restricted too. What is the real issue now that we are not being told by chrysler?
I just wanted to let people know what I found out so that we all have all the info we can possibly get. I just hope this will not be an ongoing issue we have to look forward to for years to come. One head replacement is enough for me and more than that would suck royally!
I am not here to alarm nor get people stirred up. Just wanted people to know what I found out and that the initial replacement heads MAY NOT fix our issues permanently.

Well I found out something new this past week. Took my jeep in for service and saw the forms they print off with the vehicle. I wish I knew what these are called but it is attached to the repait order (Possible vehicle history repairs?). Anyway...what I read was very interesting and the dealership called to find out why this information was on the forms. Here is what was on the forms that had me and the dealership concerned.....

1. rarely these days machining is found to be the root cause... especially with advanced CAD modeling and CNC controls in place.
2. if it was a supplier raw material or machining tolerance problem, it would have been corrected by now.
The Pentastar engine design in general concerns me since Chrysler went to great lengths to design out costs.... just look at the block design where the heads mate up to the aluminum block. They saved a lot of raw material and weight with this design. They reduced the number of small components by designing them into the larger components. This was all to reduce costs albeit by their Value Engineering team. I wonder how much Reliability Engineering went into this motor?
Oh yeah, BTW... according to Allpar, "Direct injection has been delayed for numerous reasons, and is not expected until calendar years 2014-2016."
I wonder why their engineering teams has placed direct injection on the back-burner? I wonder what the numerous reasons are?
Design flaws !
