I have a question regarding this statement. I know where to look to see the build date for the Jeep itself, but that doesn't really guaranty that the motor was built at the same time right? Couldn't these motors have been built in Mexico months and months ago before being thrown into a Jeep that was assembled in Detroit just recently?
My build date is after these specified dates, but I want a bit on insight before I consider myself in the clear.

FYI ... no way Chrysler will pre-build six months inventory on a item (engine assembly) with a standard cost of $5K or more. That would be a major negative impact on working captial.
I would bet a paycheck the engine assembly takt time is the same as the number of units rolling off the line every minute. The current scenario with customer demand overtaking capacity and whala, you have no choice (right or wrong) than installing, selling and back ordering defective assemblies. They have no business trying to act like they have their LEAN program in working order with piss-poor spec'd components. It just doesn't work.
This in my opinion is a cross platform design problem and is driving manufacturing and dealers crazy... I would make R&D "heads" roll over this. Pardon the pun.

I don't think we can know for sure when the engine was built. However I'm almost positive all the Wrangler pentastars have been built in Trenton. I've also read multiple times (although no first hand experience) that engines are put into vehicles almost as fast as they are built, at least in this instance with the Wrangler.
This makes sense, but I don't want to consider myself safe yet. After all, I'm only at 5k miles. I hear people are starting to develop this problem as late as 20k miles?

Yep, I think I have heard a 20,000. My CEL came on just under 19k, although I'll be well over 19,600 by the time it gets repaired...

I just talk with the service manager today and chrysler is only allowing the dealership to only order 1 cylinder head a week
My friend works at another jeep dealer and told me the samething. I have 11 in front of me
