CEL came on about 18,700 miles. Misfire #2. Built in 8/2011. I have taken it to the dealer once who didn't argue with me. Said he's seen a few and replaced the heads. This was all last Saturday, so Monday he called and said head was ordered. On Wednesday said it should ship on Friday.

Now, he said its only misfiring at 31. Not sure what that number means, but he said you should be fine to drive it until it gets up to about 70-80, which at that point the CEL should be blinking at you, and don't drive it. Is this ok? He said I have no provision for a rental in my warranty, but that's such BS, especially with as wide spread issue as this is becoming. He did say when I bring it back in for the couple days for the head replacement, I should get a rental then. Am I doing more damage driving it daily the 50 or so miles to and from work?
This is great... the cylinder head should be in sometime this coming week, and the CEL light just went out tonight. Of course I'm not excited about this cause I still have a tick, and I still think it sounds bad... but don't know what issues this will cause at the dealer when they call me to bring it in.

I've still been driving it as I don't get a rental... probably put 300-400 miles on it in the last 9 days since the CEL came on.

Ok so tonight still no CEL, so I plugged my basic code reader in. Still gives me the #2 misfire code. Is that just "history" and not current, or did the light just decide to go out? BTW, the light does come on when starting the Jeep, and the code reader says MIL not on...

My cylinder head is in. Now they are waiting on a bolt kit, which is on back order, no ship date available.

Planning on taking the Jeep camping this weekend (towing a pop-up) as its been planned for weeks. Probably not a great idea, but when the engine blows up totally, Chrysler can just replace it all then...

I feel like I'm driving around in an old tractor. 8600 miles. No CEL yet but I know it's coming.

Just heard back from the dealership today. They had ordered a new head and it was supposed to be done today. They told me today they are putting in a complete new motor!

What the hell happened?!? They were supposed to call me back this afternoon with more info and I didn't get a call. A new motor after 15k???

I would be interested in seeing the final repair order as to "WHY" they are replacing the motor. I wonder if they caught something that other dealership techs missed that could lead us with the same result as you down the road. A whole new motor....WOW.

Keep us posted for sure!!

Same deal here. Getting frustrated.

My 2012 has 4780 miles on it (as of this morning). Sounds like a damn diesel (wishing it really was). Gas mileage is terrible. Getting 14-15 mpg all the time. Seems very sluggish and is constantly downshifting (auto) to keep within what powerband it has. Took it in to a local dealer (not the one I bought it from) - spoke to one guy who said he knew about it and could help me, but said I needed to make an appointment because they were booked for the day. Cool...so I scheduled to bring it in for it's oil service and to get this situation looked at. Upon walking up to the guy the manager pointed out as "knowing about it", the dude lied to my face and asked if I had been reading the forums. Ignoring the comment - I proceeded to tell him all the symptoms. A hour later...they come out to tell me it sounds like every Jeep they have. This is BS. Great on the sound...but what about the power and crappy gas mileage?

Not sure what to do. Love the Jeep for what it is. But, this is beginning to piss me off. And then to have a tech lie to my face....

Hey Chrysler - Against all that I find automotively holy I went against my better judgement to fulfill a dream of owning a Jeep since I was a teenager. This is the first time I bought one of your crappy POS products. Step up and fix the problem. RRRrrrrr....

I think a class action lawsuit is in order if Chrysler doesn't issue a recall

I'm totally on board with this!! I've been in a rental car for almost a month and now they say they have to replace the entire motor. 15k and new motor... Something is seriously wrong with their quality control.

And their telling me Chrysler is only going to cover 5 days of the rental car bill!!!

Went through the EXACT same thing (Except motor replacement). Was in a rental for 5 weeks. Chrysler will pay for more than 5 days, the dealer has to just re-submit it. I have no idea how they do it, but know they can some how.

Hope it gets fixed soon!
