Got mine back last week. Had a pulley replaced under warranty which was squealing but the tick is still there. When I asked about it they said that "some of them tick all the time" and it's not anything their mechanics are worried about. I was told I was covered with the warranty and drive it until it gets worse or it throws a code.
I would find another dealership if at possible. I went to 3 different dealerships before one told me of all the Ticking issues they already encountered. They said a head replacement was the only fix for that ticking problem.

was at the dealer today getting something else taken care of and had the main jeep mechanic tell me they are doing lots of heads, there is no known fix, and they are out of stock of heads right now. So if your jeep goes downfor this.. expect it to be a while.. and expect it to come back possible. You can bet that the first time a dealer hits me up for a good lifetime warranty deal, im gonna jump on it

Well I dropped mine off yesterday and the service advisor acknowledged the "Tic". I left the car with the dealer and got a call back about an hour later. Thinking he would have results on the compression test, I asked how everything was going. He replied with "Well, I wish I could say it was going well but it seems we have misplaced your keys". Well another 40 mile round trip back to the dealership with my spare key. Service advisor said I should have an answer back in the morning with the prognosis. Called the dealership this afternoon after not hearing from them and they said they think they know the issue..... "Sir I think you have a bad fly wheel. We will be tearing the motor away from the transmission and will be replacing one for you right away as soon as we hear back from Chrysler." Not sure where they are getting this info from but they did say they would provide a loaner/rental to me at no charge tomorrow until they resolve the issue! I hope I get my jeep back in one piece.

Hell, i just hope they find ur damn keys!
A cracked flywheel-at the hub where it bolts to the crank- will most certainly make a ticking sound as the two halves of the cracked metal pop back and forth against each other as the engine turns.
The problem is that a flywheel only cracks when the two mating surfaces are not parrallel. If one surface is at a different angle that the other the flywheel will crack, like when one side of a transmission starts unbolting itself and the side of the transmission that has come loose flexes away under load.....
mental note, dont let drunk friends help u install ur $8000.00 sbc 400 to a TCI race conversion trans and then go test it next a.m. The flywheel was the last of my worries.

Yeah that makes two of us. The service advisor pointed to a blood vessel in his forehead that he said grew twice as large as he searched for the key for about an hour and a half before I got back to the dealership. House keys can be replaced, I just hope they replace the lost Jeep key. From what I hear, they are not cheap to replace since they are coded.
