possible problems with some 3.6 pentastar engines
#212
Just dropped it off to the dealer. The mechanic that looked at it in the lot says he wants to hear it in the morning to see if the sound is diff he will also compare it to others on their lot. The tic is constant and distinctively on the driverside. I also noticed a hesitation yesterday in 1st, 2nd and 3rd under harder acceleration.

JK was finished yesterday. New head and gaskets. Drove it home last night and everything seemed fine. No check engine light and the "ECO" was working.
Just have patience, warranties are good. Hopefully this is the last post on this thread (fingers crossed)

i dropped mine off last night and spoke to service this morning. They said "well we didn't hear anything out of the ordinary when we moved it." I politely asked them to take another listen. I doubt they'll call me so i guess i'll be calling them in a couple of hours
"but you can hear the tick right?"
"one of the guys said he did when he moved it but then it went away"
"so what's the plan?"
"come pick it up and hope the tick doesn't come back"
GREAT - let's hope the tick and lifter magically fix themselves

Heard back from the dealer and they said they checked the tic against some others on the lot and it sounds the same. They checked Chrysler and there is no bulletins on it. So your
Telling me it normal??? "no but just keep an eye on it"
Are you kidding me!!!! They don't know about this when all you have to do is google 3.6 pentastar tic and you'll see three or four wrangler forums with this topic and pages upon fn pages of people with this damn problem wtf.

Secondly the dealers have absolutely no say on anybody's Jeep when it comes in to them with the tic. It has to be authorized by Chrysler based on the vehicles VIN which flags it into the Restricted Status category. Chrysler has to warranty this problem and they're doing exactly that.
It's called patience, I went through it, and many more people beyond who read these threads on this forum will have to go through it.
Chrysler may or may not lose customers. That's the price of doing business with imperfect human beings manufacturing automotive parts.
It would be more official and convincing to show an actual work order to the dealers that are
Blowing smoke.that there IS a problem and that we have valid information on the repairs not just someone online saying so.
I second the motion to post work orders.

Update.
Just talked to jeep customer care they said because the dealer compared it to another and said it was normal they can't do anything until I get a second third whatever opinion that says otherwise. I'll get a second opinion and wait to see what happens.

This forum (hear say) would not even be entertained in a court of law with out documentation.
All these posts about engines being torn apart...and head replacements. (Hear say)
Let's see an invoice or work order of the work that was done to your engine. (This would be factual proof)
I don't understand why anyone that had this work done would not want to show other 2012 owners the proof.
Cheers
