Never to cold....I have been running around doorless and topless for the last 2 weeks....the mornings are alittle cool -6C (20F) but just crank the heat, wear a toque and have a Timmy's Coffee in the cup holder!!!

I'd roll windshield down on the beach, only. Where I wheel, you would get a stick in the eye pretty damn quick.

The windscreen is a Canadian option.

Was the original intent for having a fold down windshield for hunting and safaris and things like that so you could shoot out the front of a Jeep? Not sure but it would make sense.

One tiny little pebble on the highway = a missing tooth. Besides the safety issues, it is ugly as hell.

I heard on the History Channel I think that one of the original purposes of the fold-down windshield during WWII was to prevent reflecting the sun and giving away your position. But I'm sure shooting was also a big reason.

Is it true that people fold down their windshields for rock crawling to lower the center of gravity or is this too dangerous?

I recall reading another reason was to enable more jeeps to loaded onto transport planes, ships, etc... they were more stackable with the windshield folded down.
