Penstar recall

Oh, and FWIW --
I'm just coming up on 1200 miles. I fired up the Rubi yesterday afternoon after having not been run the previous night and most of the following day. I heard a nice, loud tick for about 30 seconds until the oil started flowing. At least it was louder from the driver's side than the passenger side. This is the first time I've heard this on startup after sitting. I'm now keeping a sharp ear out to see if it gets worse over time.
I'n not trying to be pessimistic, but I'm preparing for the worst. Hopefully Chrysler will have an equitable resolution or recall soon.

I don't want to be negative either, but mine is louder than when I picked it up. When I go to the passenger side it's quiet and the driver side is noticeably louder but not loud like a cold start tick. I have a warranty therefore am not worried.

my only fear is that ill have problems in the future. Jeep techs have not always been know to do the best work and if they are rushed then who knows if they did it right. My luck it'll mess up right when you warranty expires.

So is the tick once you start the jeep or does it last the whole time its on. Mine gets pretty noisy when i first start it up, and then it goes away. Do i need the check engine light also to come out before i take it in if i do have a head problem?

Shaumberger...if you could PM me with the info on your JK: Mileage, tick?, loss of MPG?, Loss of power. I will add it to my spreadsheet so that we all have numbers to try to figure this thing out.

The tick lasts the whole time. However, it's a small red flag if the tick is only on one side. You do not have to wait for the light to take it in. However, with no light you would want a more pronounced tick, power loss, or declining MPG.
