Penstar recall

Not trying double post so I would add what is and has happened to me in this thread. I had my first head replacement at 5K miles and now getting the SAME head replaced AGAIN at 9200 miles (4200 is all the "Replacement head" lasted before the issue returned again). The dealership called "Star" and told them the issue I am having again and "WHAM"....New head being shipped within a week and will be back under the knife again on OCT 1st! The first head was NOT the "Revised" head and this one will be.
Was told that the dealerships in the area are now replacing the same heads they replaced previously because they were not the newly revised ones that were replaced!!
To sum this up, trying to keep up with current production and replacing the heads they have already replaced once with what should of been the revised head the first time, I can only imagine Chrysler is and will struggle to keep up for well into 2013!

I've added your second issue to the spreadsheet. You're only the second person to have two heads replaced. Thanks for keeping us updated.

2012 Sahara ULTD, 9,000 miles and the thing just started to tick like crazy. It started to tick at around 5,000 miles but only after a long drive and from a cold start. Took it to the local dealer at about 7,000 but they, "couldn't reproduce the problem" and there is no check engine lights or codes. Now that its happening all the time I'm gonna take it back again.

So it looks like I have the tick as well. Purchased 5/12, build date 4/12. Have 5600 on the ODO but it's been making noise for a while now.
Took it to my local dealer in Irvine, CA and had the service manager and head tech listen. Was told that "all is normal" and that "the 2012's all sound like that". No check engine light and they weren't able to pull any codes.
I think I may take it to another dealer down south and see what they say. Really not happy that my $40k Rubicon sounds like a ticking bucket of bolts.

Now a serious note....LOL... My Jeep had the head removed today and they are putting the new one on. I will tell people that I have heard from my dealership and other dealerships, that have replaced heads, that the #2 head bolt has been known to strip out of the block! I know of 3 in this area that have had this issue!! I heard it had something to do about the torqing sequence of the head or poor quality of the block?
I am hoping mine is not the next one!

Well it hit me today. F-in light came on this morning. Pulled in to the dealer ship. They plugged it in and said I had the #6 misfire problem. I have 12,200 miles and my build date was Sept 2011. I'm dropping it off in the morning and there giving me a free rental. He said he's not sure how long it will take, depends on where the parts are coming from.

Second driver's side head replaced today. Much quieter than before. I will keep everyone posted on how this head is. This head is the revised AC head unlike the previously replaced one done 4200 miles ago.
Amazing how loud the passenger side is now that the drivers has been replaced for the second time. I hope I don't have an issue with the passenger side now! I have a Sept 2011 build date as well.

I had the tick and noticed it at 6400 miles. I brought it to my dealer and the tech observed and agreed within 10 seconds. I brought it in the next day for replacement and they had my JK for 1.5 days. In the paperwork they noted it had the factory Mopar oil filter (?) They replaced the head and noted the lifters and valves were loose and then they replaced those. My dealer was great to deal with. Never had a check engine light.

Happy to see im not the only one with this issue. Had the light come on 2 weeks ago, misfire in #2. Taking it in on the 9th to get checked out and if it is the problem they'll have the Jeep for 5 days. Haven't even had it a year now, wasn't expecting so many problems so soon.
