Subscribing, Jeep just started having this issue. I did an Evap relocation years ago, so I have a few target areas to focus on, also am using an aftermarket lockeable fuel cap. Big porblem is, I'm in Germany - Jeep's in FL. Have to work through my family member who is Jeep sitting. I don't expect fast results, he doesn't drive it a whole lot.

Good luck on your remote troubleshooting

My 2013 just popped this code last week...turned out...when I swapped the battery...there are some vac lines running beside the battery and I must have bumped them or something...after jiggling all the connections and running my fingers around the lines looking for a hole...didn't find any problems...but the CEL went off after...and so far so good...

Well, same here P0456
Well after checking everything else, it was a loose gas cap.
Code has been cleared, so we'll see if it returns.
Which should have shown up on the dash and not Check Engine light ?
However almost all evaporative connections seemed to snap a little in a good way when checking the connections ??
Is the battery issue specific to 3.8s ?
Mine is not the same as pictured and not close to touching.

Man, you gotta love this place, and the timing! Just went out to my Jeep this morning and had engine light. Checked codes with my Flashpaq and got the code. Guess I know what to look for this afternoon!
Thanks, all!
Thanks, all!

Last week I was wiring up some off-roading lights and I dropped a bolt into my battery box. I shoved my hand in to get the bolt. Next time I started the motor I got a GASCAP and P0456 engine code (small evap leak).
Upon reviewing what I did, I shoved my hand past the vacuum lines that run near the battery. I've checked them all to include the fittings and nothing appears damaged or loose. I'm pretty sure it is now a vacuum leak there caused by me.
What can I do to remedy this? How can I determine where the vacuum leak is? I thought about checking by putting smoke in the vicinity and look for where it may be sucked into the vacuum lines but haven't tried yet - figured I should do some research first.
I have not tried to reset the codes to see if it would come back.

Looking for some help, the code 0456 came on and now I'm looking for a possible leak. I replaced the gas cap and reset the battery and it came back on. After this thread I searched for possible leaks and cracked hoses and even checked the purge solenoid. Found this hole on what I believe is called the air intake hose, could this be the culprit? Either way I taped it up and reset the battery....just have to some daily driving to see if it comes back on.
It connects from the air intake to the engine

After extensive searching I took it to the local Jeep shop who spent an entire day verifying that there was no leak. Mine turned out to be a failed relay. If all else fails, that may be the issue. Good luck.
