Default p0305 misfire

im getting code p0305 which is cylinder 3 misfire.

the question id like to ask is.

is there a way (using a multimeter or other method) to test which component is causing a misfire. before i go slapping parts on it in hope

my guess is it can be any of the following
spark plug
plug wire
electronic distributer
fuel injector
injector harness

i think cylinder 3 is the passenger side in the far back. so the less reaching back there i have to do the better

#5 cylinder is the rear cylinder on the right bank, (passenger side on LHD vehicles).
Lots of things can cause a misfire. "Engine Mechanical" in the list below is a big subject.
Some of the other tests require the dealer computer to activate certain circuits.
[h=2]P0305-CYLINDER 5 MISFIRE[/h]
  • When Monitored: Any time the engine is running, and the adaptive numerator has been successfully updated.
  • Set Condition: The threshold to set the fault is application specific; it is tied to the level of misfire that will cause emissions to increase to 1.5 times the standard or in some cases 1%. It is always a two trip fault above the calibrated RPM. It takes 1 soft fail to set a malfunction and two trips to set the MIL. Three good trips to turn off the MIL.

How many miles do you have? have you ever changed the spark plugs?

I saw in your profile you have 2007... if you have never changed your spark plugs, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to go ahead and change them even if it doesn't fix your problem.
